Why do I want more money, but still struggle to earn it?

You're desperate for it...

...but at the same time, something about it scares you.

You want more money.

More success.

More freedom.

More responsibility.

More visibility.

And yet...

The moment it starts getting closer, something happens.

You procrastinate.

You start doubting yourself.

You feel tired.

Suddenly you can see every possible problem.

You start thinking about why it might not actually be such a good idea or even work out. And before you know it, you're right back where you started. It's incredibly confusing. Because how can you want something so badly... and still feel so afraid of it?

The short answer

Because desire and safety don't always move in the same direction. Consciously, you may want abundance. But if your system associates abundance with danger, it may unconsciously try to keep you exactly where you are. Your desire for success can be real while another part of your system is still trying to protect you from what success might mean.

Why do you want something you're also afraid of?

Imagine someone gave you a million pounds tomorrow. How would that feel?

Your first thought would probably be: “Amazing.” But if you're really honest...

What happens next? Maybe you think:

“I never had it, so is it even possible?”

“What if I lose it again?”

“Who would I become with more money?”

“What would people say about me?”

“Am I even worthy of it?”

Suddenly, it's no longer about money. It's about everything money represents to you. And that's where things get interesting.

Money is rarely just money

For one person, money means freedom. For another, it means responsibility. For one person, wealth represents safety. For another, it represents jealousy, rejection, loneliness or the fear of failure. Everyone grows up with an invisible story about money.

Maybe you heard that rich people are greedy.

Maybe you learnt that money has to be earned through hard work.

Maybe you watched people argue about it.

Maybe you learnt that having more than others makes you a target.

Maybe money was unpredictable.

Whatever the story was, it can become part of the way your system understands money. And that story can influence far more than the number in your bank account.

Why working hard isn't always enough

Many people assume that more knowledge, better strategies or working harder will automatically lead to more income. Sometimes it does. But sometimes you see incredibly talented people continually keeping themselves small without even realising it.

They undercharge.

They don't allow themselves to be visible.

They delay important decisions.

They turn down opportunities.

Or they earn a lot of money... and then lose it just as quickly.

Something deeper can be happening underneath the strategy. Your external reality can grow only as far as your internal reality is able to accommodate what you're creating.

The Buddhi perspective

Within the Buddhi Method, we don't only look at how much money someone wants to earn. We look at the frequency from which they are meeting money.

Money isn't an isolated subject. It interacts with the same inner system as relationships, health, identity and personal growth. It moves with the state of being you are living from.

When your dominant frequency is one of lack, you tend to experience the world as a place where there is never quite enough.

Never enough time.

Never enough clients.

Never enough opportunities.

Never enough security.

And from that frequency, you make choices that can continue to reinforce that sense of lack.

Your system continually tries to bring your external experience into alignment with what feels familiar and true internally. That is why someone can genuinely desire abundance while unconsciously holding on to scarcity. Abundance may simply not feel safe yet. Within the Buddhi Method, we believe you don't receive simply what you desire. You receive what corresponds with the frequency you are living in. That doesn't mean money magically falls from the sky. It means your dominant state influences how you perceive opportunities, which decisions you make, how much space you allow yourself to take up and how other people experience you.

When your frequency changes, your relationship with money changes too. And from that new relationship, different choices can emerge. Different possibilities. And ultimately, different results.

Real change therefore begins with studying yourselfWhen you learn why you react the way you do, what you're protecting, what you are repeating, you stop living on autopilot. And self-awareness becomes freedom.

Why affirmations often don't work

Many people try to change their money mindset by telling themselves:

“I am abundance.”

“Money flows effortlessly to me.”

But if your system still feels tension around money underneath those words, the affirmation collides with your internal reality. You can't sustainably convince yourself of something your entire system still experiences as unsafe.

That is why lasting change doesn't begin with finding better words.

It begins with creating a different state of being.

Perhaps this is the real question

Maybe you don't need to keep asking yourself: “How do I make more money?” Perhaps there is a more interesting question: “Does my system actually feel safe receiving abundance?” Because as long as abundance feels unsafe, your system may keep finding ways to return to what is familiar.

Even when what is familiar is scarcity.

Summary

If you want more money but also feel afraid of success or abundance, it doesn't necessarily mean you're sabotaging yourself. It may mean your desire has grown larger than the sense of safety your system currently has around receiving it. And as long as abundance doesn't feel safe, scarcity can remain familiar. Real change therefore doesn't begin with working harder. It doesn't begin with another strategy. And it doesn't begin with thinking more positively.

It begins by changing the frequency from which you meet money. Because ultimately, you don't create from what you want. You create from who you are when you want it.
